tmkthefridge: Last week when congress attempted to pass the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA), two pieces of legislation that would fundamentally change the way the Internet operates, they forgot to consider a significant voice in the debate - the Internet. Both bills, which initially…

I'm watching the debate,
coketalk: and it occurs to me that if you took the very best traits from each of the Republican candidates — Ron Paul’s integrity, Newt Gingrich’s guile, Mitt Romney’s looks, Rick Perry’s swagger, Michelle Bachmann’s vagina, and Rick Santorum’s tie — and then combined them into one über-Republican candidate, that asshole still couldn’t beat Obama. I take comfort in that.

What I Learned in 2009...
so i just found this in my draft folder. it’s not clever or very witty, but it’s a neat little nearly three year old time capsule. Mostly, this is for Jordyan. WHAT I LEARNED IN 2009 Drinking Rebel Yell by the bottle may result in living room wrestling pits.   If you lend someone your purse, it may be returned with puke in it depending on how good your night was.  Walk to...

#OccupyWallStreet and the Failure of Institutions
#OccupyWallStreet has been drawing complaints that it doesn’t have a demand and a goal. But I say that is precisely its significance.  #OccupyWallStreet is a hashtag revolt. As I learned with my own little #FuckYouWashington uprising, a hashtag has no owner, no heirarchy, no canon or credo. It is a blank slate onto which anyone may impose his or her frustrations, complaints, demands,...

Correcting the New York Times's Abysmal Occupy...
Allison Kilkenny on September 26, 2011 - 9:06am ET Over the weekend, my inbox exploded with angry messages from people who had just read this New York Times article (though it reads more like an op-ed) about the Occupy Wall Street protest. Ginia Bellafante gives a devastating account of the event’s attendees, depicting them as scatterbrained, sometimes borderline psychotic transients. ...

ohrohin: From the time the news broke on Twitter about the SCOTUS’ refusal to stay Troy Davis’ execution to the actual event occurring tonight, there were a cluster of other trending topics that I think forecasts a climate that needs to be talked about—essentially, “Simon Cowell”, “Cheryl Cole”, “LA Reid”…
